James Travis Grissom, 89, of Saddle, Arkansas, passed from this life on Monday, September 12, 2022, in Batesville, Arkansas. Travis was born June 27, 1933, in Saddle, Arkansas to Obie Will Grissom and Goldie Pearl (Robison) Grissom.
Travis was married to Christine Benton in Sturkie, Arkansas on January 20, 1956, and to this union two sons were born. Travis spent his working years as a cattle farmer and served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Travis graduated from Ash Flat High School and was a member of the Heart Church of Christ in Heart, Arkansas. Travis loved his family and was the head storyteller of the Wal Mart McDonalds Coffee Club. Travis was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend.
Travis leaves to mourn his passing, two sons, James Ray Grissom (Kathy) of Greenbrier, Arkansas and Roy Lee Grissom of Thayer, Missouri; two grandchildren, TJ Grissom (Anna) of Prosper, Texas and LeAnn Williams (Coty) of Pleasant Valley, Arkansas; four great grandsons, Chandler Williams, Benton Williams, Tyson Grissom, and Max Grissom; many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, and three sisters (Ramona Wooldridge, Lovena Gilbreath, and Roberta Bishop).
Graveside services will be Friday, September 16, 2022, 2:00 PM at the Saddle Cemetery with Bro. Bruce Caldwell officiating. Interment will be in the Saddle Cemetery in Saddle, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be James Ray Grissom, Roy Lee Grissom, Kim Hall, Cavin Hall, TJ Grissom, Coty Williams, and Randy Zeigler. Memorial may be made to the Heart Church of Christ or to the Saddle Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home, LLC in Salem, Arkansas.
