William Jay Gildersleeve was an amazing friend and a compassionate soul. He was always helping those who needed a hand. All those who knew him will remember his legacy of love and consideration. He was united in marriage to Bonnie Elizabeth Collins, and they operated Riverview Motel in Mammoth Spring for many years. He was also a long-time employee of Washam’s Hardware in Mammoth Spring.
Bill was born on January 7, 1962; he departed this world on September 7, 2020 at Salem, Arkansas. Bill is survived by two sons, Billy (Curtis) and Chris (Katie) Collins; six grandchildren: Chance, Austin, and Molly Collins; Chandler, Trinity, and Hunter Collins; his mother, Mary Henderson Gildersleeve; one sister: Rebecca Stricklin; special friends: the Crowe family; and a multitude of family and dear friends. His wife, Bonnie; two sons, Tracy Lee Collins and William Oliver Collins Gildersleeve, and his father Earl Jay Gildersleeve precede him in death.
A “Celebration of Life” memorial service for Bill will be held at 4:00 pm on Sunday, September 13, 2020 at the Crowes’ Lot on Spring River at Sadler Falls. All family and friends are invited to this potluck style dinner to celebrate Bill’s amazing life. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home.
