Tressie Pauline Saunders, 97, of Salem, Arkansas departed this life on January 15, 2020 in Salem, Arkansas. Tressie was born to the late Earnest Elmer Mooney and Laura Melzina (Reeves) Mooney on September 6, 1922 in Day, Arkansas.
Tressie was united into marriage to John Patten “J.P.” Saunders on February 11, 1940 in Glencoe, Arkansas and to this union four children were born. Tressie spent her working years as a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. Tressie had little but never complained and never said a bad word about anyone. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, and friend.
Tressie leaves to mourn her passing two sons, Quinton Saunders of Fredricksburg, Virginia and Rickey Saunders and wife Gayle of Salem, Arkansas; two sons-in-law, Ransom Pogue of Batesville, Arkansas and Richard Johnson of Riverton, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Kyla and Cliff Hawkins of Thayer, Missouri, Richard and Audrey Saunders of Leavenworth, Washington, Tammy and Pat Weller of Fredricksburg, Virginia, Angela Saunders of Wenatchee, Washington, Shirley and Jeremy Michel of Wenatchee, Washington, Duane Johnson of Shreveport, Louisiana, and Stephanie Pandolfi de Rinaldis and husband Giuseppe of Bexley, Ohio; thirteen great grandchildren, Layne Hawkins, Lacey Hawkins, Trista Saunders, Justin Saunders, Mitchel Weller, Derrick Weller, Joe Earll, Tyler Earll, Samantha Earll, Katelin Moon, Joshua Moon, Natalie Moon, and Paolina Tressie Pandolfi de Rinaldis; many great great grandchildren; sister, Margie Hamilton of Los Angeles, California; sister-in-law, Beatrice Synder of Klamath Falls, Oregon and many other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband (J.P.), two daughters (Betty Jean Pogue and Janie Mae Johnson), and parents (Earnest and Laura Mooney).
Graveside services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, January 18, 2020 at the Salem Cemetery in Salem, Arkansas with Bro. John Hodges officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 – 7:00 P.M. Friday, January 17, 2020 at Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas. Memorials may be made to the Salem Cemetery Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas.
