Tommy Joe Sutherland, age 67, of Fayetteville, AR died Thursday, October 10, 2024, at his home. He was born on January 16, 1957, in Salem, AR to Carl and Ruth Faulconer Sutherland.
Tommy grew up in Camp, AR, and graduated from Salem High School in Salem, AR in 1975. After graduation, he attended a tech college in Melbourne, AR, and trained as a chef. He then enlisted in the US Army and served for 8 years, including time in Fort Campbell, KY, Fort Dix, NJ, and Corozal Panama. He spent his working years as a chef including the last several years at Mermaids located in Fayetteville, AR.
Tommy had a very quick wit, and never missed a chance to keep everyone laughing and entertained. Tommy loved his family with all his heart, and they loved him. He is so missed.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Ruth Sutherland, three brothers-in-law Jerry Smith, Larry LaRue, and Michael Wilson, two sisters-in-law Shirley Vaugn Sutherland, Patricia Wilson Southard, and one nephew Mark LaRue.
Survivors include: his wife; Renee Sutherland, of Siloam Springs, AR; daughter Alisha Sutherland (Ted Hall) of Kansas, OK; sons Matthew Sutherland (Ryan Plunk) of Fayetteville, AR, and Nathan Sutherland (Scott Bennett) of Las Vegas, NV; three grandchildren Talon Hall, Seraphyna Hall, and Ariana Hall all of Kansas, OK; brothers John Sutherland (Tommy Jean), and Jack Sutherland; sisters, Anna Beth LaRue, Carol Farlow (Jim), Mary Smith, and Carla Sutherland; nine nieces and nephews and a very large extended family.
Visitation will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday, October 26 at the Camp United Methodist Church followed by a memorial service at 12 P.M. in the same location.
