Sylvia Irene Coffman

Sylvia Irene Coffman, 90, of Salem, Arkansas was born on August 11, 1926, daughter of James B. and Ada Susan (Barnes) Miller. She passed away peacefully at her home with her family around her on June 1, 2017 in Salem, Arkansas.   She was united in marriage to Troy Henry Coffman on October 18, 1944 in Mt. Ida, Arkansas and to this union seven children were born. She loved to garden, quilt, cook and was a homemaker. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a member of the Salem Church of Christ.             She is survived by her children; Donald Coffman and wife Frances of Holly Grove, Arkansas, James Coffman and wife Karen of Salem, Arkansas, Kathy Hicks and husband Raymond of Hardy, Arkansas, and Anita Thiel and husband Al of Anchorage, Alaska; twelve grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; sister, Ella Price of Caddo Gap, Arkansas, (last of eleven at age 95); many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband (Troy Coffman), two sons (Harold Coffman and Garrett Coffman), daughter (Mary Lynn McBride), three grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and her parents.   Graveside services will be Monday June 5, 2017 at Hopper Cemetery in Hopper, Arkansas with Bro. Harold Vaughn officiating. Visitation will be Sunday June 4, 2017 from 4 – 6 P.M. at Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas. Pallbearers are Raymond Hicks, Al Thiel, Jonathan Hicks, Christopher Thiel, Mark Coffman and Bruce Price. Memorials may be made to Paragould Children’s Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home of Salem, Arkansas.
