Roy Wood is in Heaven

Noah Thomas and Norma Pauline (Rosier) Wood were my parents. My older sister, Barbara Lou, was still-born on April 25, 1941.

I was born in Kansas City, MO, May 17, 1943. When I was two, we moved to Fulton County to Viola, AR.

Daddy left for Heaven when I was eight years old. Mother then went to be with our Lord on May 22, 2003, at the age of 82.

At age 11, I asked Jesus to forgive me of my sins and save me. HE did.

Baptism followed shortly thereafter in a popular and locally God-prepared baptistry called a creek. From that time I sinned many, many times and repeatedly asked our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to forgive me. Again, again, and again. HE did.

I held three degrees, served on boards and advisory committees/councils in our beloved State and other states which provided the opportunity to travel in over half of our states while on the job. Was presented several awards and honors. Was president of a number of professional and social organizations. These so-called accomplishments meant little to me when compared to my salvation, and to the births of my two sons, Harber and Christopher Matthew.

Harber's wife is Shelley Silvers Wood. I have four grandchildren: Chloé Rose Bickhard, Elias Harber, Clara Grace Blevins, and Emmalyn Anne; I have one great grandson, Liam Jakob Bickhard.

My wife Barbara stayed by my side day and night while I was in the hospital for a six- month hitch in 1998. Four of those months were in the hospital in the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, OH. Our Lord blessed me with a newly transplanted heart while there. Thank you again, Lord.

The older I got the more I tried to live a more Christ-like life, though I failed over and over. Thank you, Jesus, for your grace and mercy. And forgiveness.
