Ronald Ray May, age 84, of Viola, Arkansas was born on September 24, 1932 in Wild Cherry, Arkansas, son of Shelby Ray and Annie Iela Agness (Williamson) May. He departed this life on Sunday, August 27, 2017 in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Ronald married Lois Jean Merillat on June 23, 1963 in Kansas City, Missouri and to this union two sons were born. Ronald owned and operated May’s Tire Shop in Viola, Arkansas for more than twenty years and spent many more working in Kansas City in the tire business. He served our country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Byron volunteer fire department. Ronald was also a member of the Viola Senior Citizens Center where he enjoyed putting puzzles together. He was a loving son, brother, father, grandfather and was a member of the Viola United Methodist Church. Ronald is survived by his wife, Lois Jean May of Viola, Arkansas; two sons, Elden May and wife Ronda of North Little Rock, Arkansas and John May and wife Pamuela of Viola, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Corby May, Callie May and Aubrey May of Viola, Arkansas; many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother (Ken May). Funeral Services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Viola United Methodist Church in Viola, Arkansas with Rev. Velda Bell, Callie May and Aubrey May officiating. Visitation will be 1:00 P.M. until time of service Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Viola United Methodist Church. Interment will be at Wild Cherry Cemetery in Wild Cherry, Arkansas. Pallbearers are Quintin Neal, Garry Williams, Corby May, Deion Sanders, Stacy Perryman and Donald Montgomery. Honorary Pallbearers are Gene Sullins, Leon Hodges, Lonnie Neal, Ray Wineland, A.J. Neal and his friends from the Viola Senior Citizens Center. Memorials may be made to the Wild Cherry Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home of Salem, Arkansas.
