Roger Louis Billings, 78, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2025. Born on October 6, 1946, Roger was a dedicated father, proud Marine Corps veteran, and a beloved member of his family and community.
Roger is survived by his daughter, Cheyenne Billings, and son-in-law Cortley Rutledge; sons, Phillip Billings and Brian Billings; sisters, Merium Eades and Regina Nicola; granddaughter, Haley Denny; grandsons, Kole and Liam Denny; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He is also survived by his sweet dog, Olive, and many friends who will forever cherish his memory.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Tammy Billings; his mother, Virginia Billings; father, Dale Billings; his infant brother, and many aunts, uncles, grandparents, and his best friend, Hal Davis.
Roger proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1968 to 1972, fighting in the Vietnam War. During his time in service, he was awarded the Silver Star for his conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action. His courage, bold initiative, and unwavering devotion to duty in the face of great personal danger exemplified the highest traditions of the Marine Corps.
Roger’s greatest joy in life was being a father, and he dedicated himself wholeheartedly to his family. His love for motorcycles began in his teens, and he rode across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, often spending his free time on the open road. Roger was passionate about yard work, he was always mowing on his Bad Boy mower and picking up fallen limbs. He also loved riding horses, hunting, working in his garage, lifting weights, watching the Kansas City Chiefs, and spending quality time with his family watching movies or sitting around telling stories.
Roger was a strong, heroic man, always ready to help others. He fought bravely until his final breath, and now he rests in peace with his Savior, Jesus Christ. His family takes comfort in Psalm 73:26: “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”
