Miyoko F. Smith

Miyoko departed this life for her heavenly home on February 4, 2024.  She was the daughter of Tozo Fujimoto and Yoshino Nakai Fujimoto and was born in New Minister, British Columbia. She has 2 brothers and 5 sisters: Mitsuo, Tatsuo, Emieko, Hannao, Kazuo who live in Japan and her sister, Chieko lives in Canada.  She was married to T.D. Smith on Feb 17, 1951 in Yokohama, Japan.  They had 2 sons Richard Dan Smith and Michael Lee Smith. 

She was a faithful member of the Mitchell Assembly of God Church.  Miyoko loved cooking and serving others. After her husband retired from the Army she worked at nursing homes in Salem and Calico Rock, Arkansas and at the Fulton County Hospital as a dietician.  She retired from the hospital after 30 years of service.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, her beloved son, Michael Lee Smith, grandson Joshua Lee Smith and daughter in law Sharon C Smith.  She is survived by her son, Richard Smith, daughter in law Brenda Smith, grandchildren, Justin Smith and wife Michele Smith, Ryan Smith and wife Andrea, Joseph Smith, Anni Coe and husband Wesley Coe.  She also has 3 great grandchildren: Dillon Blaze Garrett, Kaden Elizabeth Smith and Kylie Miyoko Smith.

She was lovingly cared for by Kathy Champ, Tammy Tyler and Shay Westcott for several years until she entered hospice care. 

Graveside services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Mitchell Cemetery in Mitchell, Arkansas with Bro. Leon Morehead officiating. Memorials may be made to the Mitchell Assembly of God at Mitchell, Arkansas. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas.
