Leon Melvin Verhegghe Sr., 88, of Sidney, Arkansas was born on February 5, 1929, son of Miel and Paline (Teil) Verhegghe, in Chesaning, Michigan. He departed this life on June 18, 2017 in Sidney, Arkansas. He was married to Mary Ann Burt then later married Yolanda Lacey September 9, 2003 at Melbourne, Arkansas. He spent his working years as owner operator of Alger’s Campers and he served his country in the United States Navy. He is survived by his wife of the family home; children: Daniel Francisco and wife Shari of Mountain View, Arkansas, Leon Verhegghe Jr. and wife Rose of Moricopa, Arizona, David Verhegghe and wife Ruth of Evening Shade, Arkansas, Charlie Verhegghe and wife Karyn of St. Joe, Arkansas, Roger Verhegghe of Cadillac, Michigan, KP Lacey II of Fort Walker, Florida Linda Kern of Kentucky, and Cindy Lacey of Sidney, Arkansas; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; sisters: Leona Williams of Alger, Michigan, and Barbara Ruff of Harrison Township, Michigan; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Ann (Burt) Verhegghe; one son, Fredrick Joseph Francisco; brother, Ronald Verhegghe; sister, Maxine Mayer; and his father and mother. No services have been scheduled at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home of Salem, Arkansas.
