Kermit Taylor Cotter

Kermit Taylor Cotter, 84, of Viola, Arkansas, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024, in Viola, Arkansas. Kermit was born on September 8, 1939, in Viola, Arkansas, to Gilbert Marvin Cotter and Nancy Bessie (Foster) Cotter. 

Kermit married Virgie Gibson on March 4, 1965, in Gainesville, Missouri and to this union two daughters were born. Kermit left Viola at 16 to go to Washington and work in the orchards and while there he was drafted into the United States Army. After being discharged from the Army Kermit moved to Kansas City and worked for Ford Motor Company for several years. Around 1972 he moved back to Arkansas and worked as a carpenter building houses and was also a heavy equipment operator. Kermit enjoyed time spent with the family and loved hunting. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. 

Kermit leaves to mourn his passing, two daughters, Karen Pierce and husband Jim of Conway, Arkansas and Lisa Neal and husband Dennis of Viola, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Tyler Neal and wife Ashley, Alex Neal and wife Gracie, Samantha Pierce, Andrea Pierce, and Mary Ella Pierce; brother, James Darrell Cotter of Viola, Arkansas; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife (Virgie Mae Cotter), parents, four brothers (Norman Cotter, Lloyd Cotter, Noel “Joe” Cotter, and Vernon Cotter), and four sisters (Alsie Thompson, Faye Thomas, Chloe Cele McGee, and Diane Cotter). 

Memorial/Visitation services will be at 6-8 P.M. Friday, July 5, 2024, at Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas. Memorials may be given to Pleasant View Cemetery Fund at the Bank of Salem. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas.
