Jerry Nolan James, 74, of Viola, Arkansas departed this life peacefully at his home in Viola on Tuesday, January 30, 2018. He was the youngest of six children born to the late Jim and Alpha (Smith) James on November 8, 1943 in Elizabeth, Arkansas. He married Judy DeShazo on July 8 ,1963 and to this union one child was born.
Jerry began working for North Arkansas Electric Cooperative in Salem, Arkansas in 1969 and retired from there after thirty five years. His “four girls”: (wife) Judy, (daughter) Cindy, (grand daughter) Haley, and (great grand daughter) Gwendolyn meant the world to him and he always went out of his way to make sure they knew they were loved and taken care of.
He is preceded in passing by his parents, Jim and Alpha James, one brother, Oneil “Danny” James, and two sisters, Pat James and Betty Jo James.
Jerry leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife Judy of Viola, Arkansas; daughter, Cindy Humphries of Mountain Home, Arkansas; grand daughter, Haley (Jonathan) Maycunich of Mountain Home, Arkansas, and great grand daughter, Gwendolyn Gessner of Mountain Home, Arkansas. He is also survived by one sister and brother in law, Sue (Don) Young of Flowermound, Texas, one brother and sister in law, Jimmy (Wilma) James of Elizabeth, Arkansas, and many nieces, nephews, family, and friends. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Memorial service will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas with Donald Montgomery officiating. Memorials may be made to the Viola Cemetery Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home of Salem, Arkansas.
