James William Gray, Sr.

James W. Gray, Sr., 78, of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, passed away on Sunday, November 24th, 2024, at Mammoth Spring, Arkansas. James was born on June 23, 1946, to Ulyssess Perron Gray and Myrtle Veline (Montgomery) Gray in Clark County, Arkansas. 

James served his country in the United States Army as a young man. James spent most of his life living in the Denver, Colorado area before settling in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas. He loved spending time with his family, living the country life surrounded by deer, and watching hummingbirds. 

James leaves to mourn his passing, children, Wanda Gray-Harvey and husband Ty of Kansas and Mary Gray- Dankowski and husband Edward (JD) of Colorado; grandchildren, May Albrecht and husband Alex, Vallina Copeland and husband Austin, Sabrina Cross, Jazmine Fetz, Aubrie Flannigan and husband Ronnie, Sammy Gray, Julian Valdez, Andrew Valdez, and Anthony Valdez; great grandchildren, Darcy, Bennet, Georgianna, Fitzwilliam, Berkley, Axton, Decklin, Oliver, Jeremiah, Penni, and Owen (All of whom, he was so proud of and cherished deeply). He will be missed deeply by his sister-in-law, Paulette Gray, nephews, Mike Gray (Penny), Charles Gray (Ligaya), and James Gray (Shelly) and niece’s, Patti (Gray) Hawkins and Velina (Gray) Carter; He spent the last several years living with them in Arkansas on “The Gray Compound” as he called it. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend. He was preceded in death by his wife (Lorraine Gray), parents (Ulyssess and Myrtle Gray), three sons (Matthew Whayne, James William, and Frank Perron Gray), grandson (Joshua James Gray), two brothers (George Gray and Harold “Wayne” Gray), two sisters (Martha Gray and Jean Reynolds). 

The family will have a private memorial to honor his life. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas.
