"Jake" James Lee Hardin

James Lee “Jake” Hardin, 72, of Camp, Arkansas passed from this life on Friday, September 4, 2020 in Salem, Arkansas.  Jake was born November 14, 1947 to Benton Monroe Hardin and Lila Mae (Stone) Hardin in Camp, Arkansas.

Jake married Linda Sue Dunigan on March 4, 1964 at Salem, Arkansas.  Jake served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was of the Protestant faith.  Jake spent 44 years working for North Arkansas Electric Cooperative and loved working on his farm, his cattle, and playing softball.  Jake served as a Fulton County J.P. for 8 years, served on the NADC Board in Batesville and helped to start the Camp VFD.  Jake was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend.

Jake leaves to mourn his passing, wife, Linda Hardin of Camp, Arkansas;  2 daughters, Kristy Suzanne Hardin of Camp, Arkansas and Bobbie Lynette Cochran and husband Roger of Glencoe, Arkansas;  7 grandchildren, Samantha, Jenny, Tyler, Jared, Evan, Adam and Amanda;  great grandchildren, Marshall, Anna Mae, Conner, Emmy, Jayde, Eli, Wesley and many more;  sister, Joyce Reynolds Gaye of Viola, Arkansas;  sister-in-law, Lavada Hardin of Salem,  Arkansas;  5 brothers, Earby Hardin of Camp, Arkansas, David Hardin and wife Donna of Salem, Arkansas, Tom Hardin and wife Vickie of Mt. Home, Arkansas, Jerry Hardin and wife Patty of Saddle, Arkansas and Marvin Hardin and wife Connie of Elizabeth, Arkansas;  many other relatives and friends.  Jake is preceded in death by his parents (Benton and Lila Hardin), son (Jimmy Hardin), brother (Harold Dean Hardin), brother-in-law (Harold Reynolds), 2 sisters-in-law, (Lock Ann Hardin and Connie Gale Dunigan), and 2 nephews (Brian Hardin and Zachary Kunz).

Funeral services will be Tuesday, 11:00 AM, September 8, 2020 at Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas with Bro. John Hodges officiating.  Visitation will be Tuesday, 9:00 AM until time of the service.  Interment will be in the Camp Cemetery in Camp, Arkansas.  Pallbearers are Jeffery Hardin, Jeremy Hardin, Benton Hardin, Shawn Hardin, Josh Hardin, Eric Hardin, Gary Hardin and Justin Rush.  Honorary pallbearers are Co-op coworkers past and present.  Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Arkansas Children’s Hospital or Camp Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas.  

Please be mindful of our social distancing guidelines. We will have hand sanitizing stations set up at all entrances and exits and with the register book. Signs will be posted as well.

  • 6 foot distancing in seating and in lines
  • No entry if any symptoms or contact with a positive patient
