Glenda Yvonne (Lowry) Shopen

Glenda Yvonne (Lowry) Shopen, 78, of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas passed away from this life on Monday, July 10, 2023, at Mammoth Spring, Arkansas. Glenda was born August 19, 1944, in Birmingham, Alabama to Glenn and Maxine (Nabors) Lowry.    
 
Glenda was united in marriage to Richard Lauren Shopen on August 1, 1972, in Columbia, Missouri. Glenda worked as a Travel Agent for Best Travel Company and as a Teacher's Aide for Mammoth Spring Schools and later as an Executive Secretary for Arkansas Game and Fish. She started the Young Astronauts Club for the Mammoth Spring Schools and enjoyed working with the children in the club. She loved gardening, hiking, coaching volleyball, traveling, and music. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.   
 
Glenda leaves to mourn her passing, husband, Richard Shopen of the home; son, Malik Mitchell and wife Allena of Vancleave, Mississippi; daughter, Sarah Chappelear of Pocahontas, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Zoe Farmer (Paul), Mackenzie Chappelear (Max Vandergriff), and Isabella Chappelear; two great grandchildren, Madilynn Chappelear and Oliver Farmer; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents (Glenn and Maxine Lowry) and great grandson (Remington Chappelear).
 
No services are scheduled at this time. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home, LLC in Salem, Arkansas.
