Esther Marie (Befort) Smoot, 91, of Mountain Home, Arkansas passed from this life on Saturday, February 26, 2022, in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Esther was born in Ingalls, Kansas on April 21, 1930, to Paul Befort and Anna (Klaus) Befort.
Esther worked in the needles department at Baxter Travenol Laboratory in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Esther enjoyed painting, crocheting, crafts, and watching granddaughters’ softball and basketball games. Esther was an amazing seamstress, loved playing the slot machines, loved her family dearly, and was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Esther was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend.
Esther leaves to mourn her passing; two sons, Kelly Smoot (Kristi) of Peoria, Arizona and Steve Smoot (Raeann) of Midway, Arkansas; daughter, Shelly Smoot Boyd (Adam) of Calico Rock, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, Kristin Smoot Ellis (Kyle Clements), Kellyn Smoot, Kyla Robbins (Jordan), Nichele Heller (Will Brewer), Colten Smoot, Brodey Smoot (Courtney), Sidney Walters (Dylan Yeager), and Shelby Walters; thirteen great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her son (Shelby Smoot), parents (Paul and Anna Befort), grandson (Gregory Smoot), great granddaughter (Sophie Smoot), four brothers, and one sister.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at the Viola First Baptist Church in Viola, Arkansas with Bro. John Hodges officiating. Visitation will be 1:00 PM until the time of service at the Viola First Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Viola Cemetery in Viola, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be Bo Sparks, Bobby Dawson, Kyler Willett, Kyle Clements, Brodey Smoot, and Colten Smoot. Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren, great grandchildren, John Barker, Mark Brewer, and Ivan King. Memorials may be made to St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home LLC of Salem, Arkansas.
