Dennis Cherry

Dennis Wayne Cherry, age 66, departed this life on Thursday, October 4, 2018 in Springdale, Arkansas. He was born on April 11, 1952 in West Plains, Missouri. He was the son of Gene and Margaret Sally Rogers.

Dennis taught civics and government at Marianna, Arkansas and Marshall, Arkansas for five years and then spent the rest of his working years as a master electrician. Dennis loved studying genealogy and was a historian. Dennis loved teaching his grandchildren all sorts of different things. He was a loving son, brother, father, grandfather, friend and was a member of the Viola First Baptist Church.

He leaves to mourn his passing; two sons, Cass Cherry and wife Tracy of Owasso, Oklahoma and Ian Cherry of Orlando, Florida; daughter, Jessica Shrable and husband Dustin of Viola, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, Reece Walker, Morgan Cherry, Josey Walker, Seth Cherry, Evan Olivia Shrable, Reagan Cherry, Lewis Shrable and Harley Shrable; three brothers, Jeff Rogers of Marshall, Arkansas, Lee Rogers and wife Sheila of Vilonia, Arkansas and Willard Cherry, Jr. of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; sister, Tammy Boak of Springfield, Missouri; many other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents (Gene and Margaret Rogers) and grandparents (Jim and Freda Felts).               

Memorial services will be 11:30 A.M. Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Viola First Baptist Church in Viola, Arkansas with Bro. Robert Lash officiating. Visitation will be 11:00 until time of service on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Viola First Baptist Church in Viola, Arkansas. Memorials may be made to the Viola Cemetery Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas.
