Cecil Andrew Welch, age 81, of Salem, Arkansas was born on October 10, 1936 in Hammond, Missouri, son of Benny Andrew and Francis Marie (Boyles) Welch. He departed this life on November 7, 2017 in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Cecil was united in marriage to Billie Smith on October 1, 1955 in Ava, Missouri and to this union two children were born. Cecil spent his working years as an automotive electrician and worked at Areawide Media for several years after retirement. He loved camping, fishing, working in his yard and loved being Papa Cecil to all the children they babysat. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, friend and attended Viola First Baptist Church in Viola, Arkansas. Cecil is survived by his wife; Billie Welch of Salem, Arkansas; two daughters, Debbie Scrivner and husband James of Lawrence, Kansas and Denise Klaus and husband Jay of Overland Park, Kansas; six grandchildren, Andrew Scrivner, Amy Stout and husband Laben, Krista Sage and husband Erik, Mike Skaggs and wife Shelley, Kara Kupzyk and husband Jason, Nathan Klaus and wife Cait; seven great grandchildren, Kolton Scrivner, Skyler Scrivner, Luke Sage, Keri Sage, Keagan Stout, Bennett Skaggs, Kate Kupzyk; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers (Curtis, Curby, Carrel and Conley) and great grandson (James Skaggs). Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 10, 2017 at Viola First Baptist Church in Viola, Arkansas with Jay Klaus, Rev. Larry Ring and James Scrivner officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 A.M. until time of service Friday, November 10, 2017. Interment will be in the Mitchell Cemetery in Mitchell, Arkansas. Pallbearers are Andrew Scrivner, Erik Sage, Mike Skaggs, Nathan Klaus, Jason Perryman and Stacy Perryman. Honorary pallbearers are Kolton Scrivner, Bennett Skaggs, Luke Sage, Charles Campbell and Ted McIntyre. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Children’s Home of Paragould Arkansas. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home of Salem, Arkansas.
