Carl Lee King, age 76, of Thayer, Missouri was born on June 26, 1941 in Swifton, Arkansas, son of George Willmon and Frankie (Satterfield) King. He departed this life on Friday, September 1, 2017 in St. Louis, Missouri. Carl married Judith Ann Maguffee on January 13, 1963 in Salem, Arkansas and to this union two children were born. Carl co-owned and operated King’s Asphalt for thirty years with his brothers. He loved drag racing, old car restoration, woodworking and playing the guitar. Carl enjoyed gardening and sharing what he raised in the garden. He was a loving son, brother, father, grandfather and was of the Baptist faith. Carl is survived by his daughter, Tammy Smith of Thayer, Missouri; two grandsons, Colin Smith of Salem, Arkansas and Kyndal Smith of Salem, Arkansas; two brothers, George Willis King and wife Carolyn of El Paso, Arkansas and David Austin King and wife Dot of Couch, Missouri; sister, Dona May Vickers and husband Bill of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, son (Greg),parents, two brothers (Wilburn and Dennis) and sister (Alene Laurner). Funeral Services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas with Bro. Edward Casey officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 ~ 8:00 P.M. Monday, September 4, 2017 at Barker Funeral Home. Interment will be at Salem Cemetery in Salem, Arkansas. Pallbearers are Colin Smith, Kyndal Smith, Tyler Maguffee, Dustin Maguffee, David King, John King and Matthew King. Honorary Pallbearers are Monty Casey and Rick Saunders. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home of Salem, Arkansas.
