Bobby Ray Newman, 74, of Mountain Home, Arkansas, passed away from this life on November 27, 2023, in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Bobby was born August 2, 1949, in Byron, Arkansas to Joe Treno Newman and Cloris Idean (DeWitt) Newman.
Bobby was united in marriage to Jane Ellen Fraley on October 7, 1978, at Salem, Arkansas. Bobby worked as load management supervisor for North Arkansas Electric Cooperative for many years and served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Army. Bobby loved his family, boating, scuba diving, hunting, fishing, digging for crystals, watching westerns, and reading Louis L’Amour books. Bobby was instrumental in starting the Byron Volunteer Fire Department and was active as Chief and First Responder for many years. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, friend, and was a member of Salem First Baptist Church in Salem, Arkansas.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Jane Newman of Mountain Home, Arkansas; son, Bobby Lee White (Kimberly) of Billings, Montana; two daughters, Vicki Deanne Hurst (Rick) of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas and Ramona Jane Wilbanks (Joe) of Mountain Home, Arkansas; fourteen grandchildren, Gideon Wilbanks, Alisia Fawcett, Blake Hurst, Jared Hurst, Julie Hurst, Dustin White, Bethany White, Miranda Hurst, Richard Hurst, Devon Pascal, Trevor Pascal, Mason Cantrell, Ricki Cantrell, and Randi Cantrell; six great grandchildren; brother, Tom Newman (Peggy) of Byron, Arkansas; two sisters, Denice Innis (Mike) of Salem, Arkansas and Carol Green of Louisville, Kentucky; many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his son (John Anthony Cantrell), great granddaughter (Olivia Jane Cullen), parents, and two brothers (Fred Newman and Bill Newman).
Memorial services will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Byron Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Byron, Arkansas with Bro. John Hodges officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Byron Volunteer Fire Department. Memorials may be made to Byron Cemetery Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas.
