Billy Dean Kankey 85, of Viola, Arkansas was born on July 15, 1931, son of Arthur Austin and Lola (Hammond) Kankey, in Pineville, Arkansas. He departed this life on June 22, 2017 in Salem, Arkansas. He was married to Charlotte Carolyn Perryman on August 25, 1960 at Kansas City, Missouri. He spent his working years as a machinist at Allis- Chalmers Tractors for many years. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He loved working on tractors, coon hunting, messing with horses, riding his mule and foxtrotter “Smokey” and he loved to watch the Grand Ole Opry. He is survived by his wife of the family home; grandchildren, Colton Kankey of Viola, Arkansas and Cheyene Kankey of Charleston, Arkansas; great-granddaughter, Abilene Kankey of Viola, Arkansas; brother, Dale Kankey of Independence, Missouri; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Rodney Kankey; brother, Delma D. Kankey; and his father and mother. Graveside services will be Sunday June 25, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Byron Cemetery in Byron, Arkansas. Memorials may be made to the Byron Presbyterian Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home of Salem, Arkansas.
