Barry Wayne Bowman

Barry Wayne Bowman, 72, of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, departed this life on July 28, 2022, in Newport, Arkansas. Barry was born to Bazil Bowman and Lucille (Reid) Bowman on August 19, 1949, in Blytheville, Arkansas.

Barry was united in marriage to Joan Gail Cruse on August 19, 1973, in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. Barry received a master’s degree in Counseling and an EDS in Public School Administration.  Barry worked many years in education and retired as a principal at Marion High School. Barry had a huge impact on many students over his career. He was a member of the R.O.M.E.O (retired old men eating out) and he enjoyed camping, R.V.ing, and riding motorcycles.  He and Joan enjoyed traveling out west and going to the Florida Gulf Coast. Barry was also an amateur pilot and enjoyed building an ultralight that was later sold for a profit. He loved his children, family, and friends. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend.

Barry leaves to mourn his passing, son, Brett Chambers (Pam) of Mountain Home, Arkansas; daughter, Sherry Asbell (Greg) of Bella Vista, Arkansas; uncle, Oliver Bowman of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas; granddaughter, Katie Stamps (Bee) of Bella Vista, Arkansas; three great grandchildren, Eli Stamps of Bella Vista, Arkansas, Owen Stamps of Bella Vista, Arkansas, and Eve Gail Stamps of Bella Vista, Arkansas; many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, brother (Larry Bowman), stepbrother (Eddie Hodge), and stepsister (Billie Jean Hodge).

A memorial service will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 20, 2022, at the Pavilion at Fisherman's Park in Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas 72512. Memorials are preferred to The Call of Baxter County (800 AR Highway 201, Mountain Home, Arkansas 72653). Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas.
