John Moses Collins, 77, of Viola, Arkansas was born on January 29, 1940, in Dolph, Arkansas, son of Richard Elisha and Claudia May (Baker) Collins. He departed this life on March 17, 2017 in Salem, Arkansas. John married Reida Joann Morgan at Jordan, Arkansas on June 25, 1985. He spent his working years with Boeing, Tam Engineering, Basscat Boats, and was a deputy with Mountain Home, Gassville, Cave City and Bakersfield, Missouri. He was of the Assembly of God faith and served his country in the U.S. Army. He is survived by his wife, Joann Collins of Viola, Arkansas; son, Johnny Collins of Tacoma , Washington; two step sons, Doug Smith and wife Debbie of Viola, Arkansas and Allen Smith and wife Jennifer of Viola, Arkansas; four brothers, James Collins and wife Helen of Viola, Arkansas, Willie Collins and wife DeAnn of Tecumseh, Missouri, Euin Collins and wife Sue of Pontiac, Missouri and Larry Collins and wife Ana of Jordan, Arkansas; sister, Marie Ricciardi and husband Bill of Yuba, California; six grandchildren, Justin Smith, Jeffrey Smith, Shain Smith, Shawn Smith, Michael Smith and Michaela Smith; four great grandchildren, Payton Smith, Caydence Smith, Angeli Smith, Joey Smith and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers (Harlin Collins, Jackie Collins and Marvin Collins) and three sisters (Margaret Long, Ida May Kramer and Sue Collins). Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Mitchell Assembly of God Church in Mitchell, Arkansas with Monte Neal and Bro. Will Minick officiating. Interment will be at Mitchell Cemetery in Mitchell, Arkansas. Pallbearers are Allen Smith, Justin Smith, Jeffrey Smith, Shain Smith, Shawn Smith and Michael Smith. Honorary Pallbearers are James Collins, Larry Collins, Euin Collins, Willie Collins, Rick Taylor and Clint Austin. Memorials may be made to the DAV (Disabled American Veterans).
