Peggy Jean Batterton, 82, of Viola, Arkansas, was born on November 24, 1933, in Camp, Arkansas, daughter of Joseph Schley and Tressie Edith (Burk) McNair. She departed this life on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at her home in Viola, Arkansas.
Peggy was united in marriage to Jurval "Jack" Neal Batterton on September 1, 1951 at Mountain Home, Arkansas. Peggy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter and sister. Peggy loved to paint and research genealogy. Peggy loved kids and was always happy and laughing. Peggy is survived by her husband, Jack Batterton of Viola, Arkansas; two sons, Terry Batterton (Stephanie) of Mountain Home, Arkansas and Joe Batterton (Amy) of Viola, Arkansas; daughter, Jurlene Richmond (Ronny) of Viola, Arkansas; two brothers, Marion McNair (DeLoyce) of Orlando, Florida and Burk McNair (Billie Sue) of San Antonio, Texas; seven grandchildren, Dustin Richmond, Misha Rains, Tanner Batterton, Kaleigh Batterton, Avery Batterton, Cory Lamb and Paige Lamb; three great grandchildren, Sophia Richmond, Odin Richmond and Cainan Rains; and many other relatives and friends. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters (Margie Meredith and Vivian Parsons) and three brothers (Archie McNair, Carl McNair and Raymond McNair).
Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 2, 2016, 2:00 PM at Viola First Baptist Church in Viola, Arkansas with Bro. Larry Ring officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 2, 2016, 1:00 PM until time of the service at the church. Interment will be at Camp Cemetery, Camp, Arkansas. Pallbearers are Kerry McNair, Danny Guffey, Scott Batterton, Shawn Batterton, Mike Batterton and Derry Batterton. Honorary pallbearers are Scott Holloway, Mark Mabe, Mark McNair and Mike Meredith. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
