Ken Williamson May was born on December 4, 1938 at his home near Wild Cherry, Arkansas, son of Shelby and Annie (Williamson) May. He departed this life on September 18, 2016 at the Southfork River Therapy and Living Nursing Home in Salem, Arkansas at the age of 77 years, 9 months and 14 days.
After graduating Viola High School, Ken moved to Kansas City Missouri and worked for the Country Club Dairy. He then joined the military in November 1961 and served in the United States Army. Ken received his basic training as part of the 100th Division, 397th Regiment in Fort Chaffee, Arkansas. He was later assigned to Company C., 1st Battle Group of the 3rd US Infantry Regiment at Fort Myer in Arlington, Virginia. The 3rd US Infantry is known as the “Old Guard”. Ken served in ceremonies with both President John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson during his service.
Ken was a member of the Wild Cherry Methodist Church where he served as Sunday school teacher and Sunday School Superintendent for many years.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents Shelby and Annie May. He is survived by his brother Ronald (Lois) May of Viola, nephews Elden (Ronda) May of North Little Rock and John (Pam) May of Viola, great nephew Corby May of Viola and great nieces Callie May and Aubrey May of Viola.
Interment will be at the Wild Cherry Methodist Cemetery in Wild Cherry, Arkansas.
