Butch passed peacefully from this life the morning of March 17, 2016, in West Plains, Missouri, at the age of 64 years, after a gradual decline in health battling cancer. He was surrounded and supported by his loving family and friends during the last days of his life. Butch was born in Modesto, California, the son of Vernon Hobert and Lois Gertrude (Williams) Smith.
Butch was a dairy farmer/truck driver and most of all an entrepreneur. He was a devout Christian and strong in his faith. He was a family man and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was a wonderful supportive loving father, grandfather and friend. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Butch is survived by three children (and spouses), Samantha Wiles (Russell) of West Plains, Missouri; two sons, Robert Jr. (Heather) of Bakersfield, Missouri, and Luke of Branson, Missouri; four grandchildren, Kaleb Wiles, Nautica, Callie and Caiden; his companion, Faith Hackworth; three stepchildren, Buddy McEntire, Aaron McEntire and Taylor Wilcox. Butch is also survived by a half brother and two half sisters, Vernon Smith of Castaic, California, Leda Smith of Castaic, California, and Freda Sherman of Sacramento, California; three nephews and a niece, Rocky Smith, Justin Thomas, Jimmy Don Thomas and Tracy Duncan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Smith and Lois Smith Reynolds; an infant son; and two sisters, Sandra "Sandy" Smith and Debra Smith-Farris.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 24, 2016, 11:00 AM at Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas, with Bro. Greg Worley officiating. Interment will be in the Stateline Cemetery in Moko, Arkansas, with arrangements entrusted to Barker Funeral Home of Salem. Family will receive friends March 24, 2016, 9:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
