Leida (Burroughs) Cook was born September 7, 1917, in Cauthron, Arkansas, daughter of Alfred and Mathey (Larimore) Burroughs. She departed this life Friday, February 26, 2016, at Shady Oaks Healthcare in Thayer, Missouri, at the age of 98 years, 5 months and 16 days.
Leida was united in marriage to Raymond Cook on September 10, 1944, at Yuma, Arizona. She enjoyed making candy, crocheting baby things for hospitals, and all of her flowers. Leida was a member of the United Methodist Church in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Leida is survived by four granddaughters, Jennifer Newell of Auburn, New Hampshire, Christine Komaridis of Sterling, Massachusetts, Andrea Komaridis of Tallahassee, Florida, and Katie Komaridis of Chanhassen, Minnesota; three great-grandchildren, Brendan Newell, Hayden Newell and Merritt Jenewein; one brother, Clem Burroughs; nine nieces; eight nephews; five cousins; many other friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; a daughter, Sarah Elizabeth; her parents; one sister and two brothers.
Services will be held Monday, February 29, 2016, 11:00 AM at Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas. Private burial will be in Flint Springs Cemetery at a later date with arrangements entrusted to Barker Funeral Home of Salem.
