Ranzy Bales was born in Ott, Arkansas, on March 20, 1931, son of Herman and Ethel (Crawford) Bales. He departed this life on December 30, 2015, at the age of 84 years, 9 months and 10 days. Ranzy married Veda Alene Harber on February 25, 1960 at Vidette, Arkansas. He spent his working years as a logger in the timber business. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and was of Pentecostal faith. Ranzy is survived by his wife, Alene Bales of Gepp, Arkansas; son, Randy Bales(Regnia) of Sturkie, Arkansas; daughter, Teresa Raburn(Jim) of Gamaliel, Arkansas; 6 grandchildren, Joshua Lard,Caleb Lard, Andrea Moss, Heather Gilbreath, Brittney Fowler, and Nathan Bales;10 great grandchildren; brother, Rufus Bales(Ellen) of Kingsville, Missouri and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers, Thelmar Bales, Shelby “Doc” Bales, Bo Bales, Eugene Bales; 5 sisters, Maxie Dillinger, Ruth Morris, Barbara Deathridge, Wanda Griggs, Shirley Brown. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 2, 2016, 10:00 AM at Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas with Bro. Michael Dillinger officiating. Visitation is Friday, January 1, 2016, 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Barker Funeral Home in Salem. Pallbearers are Joe Fowler, Ray Gene Shrable, Jonathan Gilbreath, Billy Joe Morris, Donald Ray Shrable, Eric Bales. Honorary pallbearers are Ronnie Bales, Loyd Harber, and Kenneth Foster. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home of Salem, Arkansas. Memorials may be made to the Shrable Cemetery.
