Lora M. Martin-Abney was born June 9, 1933, in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, daughter of Otto and Lourana (Bell) Dowdy. She departed this life Sunday, November 15, 2015, at her home in Thayer, Missouri, at the age of 82 years, 5 months and 6 days. Lora was united in marriage to Billy Joe Abney in Melbourne, Arkansas, October 1, 2001. She was an entrepreneur of many businesses in Fulton, Sharp and Oregon counties specializing in buying and selling property. Lora was a member of Welcome Hill Church of Christ in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. Lora is survived by her husband, Billy Joe Abney of Thayer, Missouri; a daughter, Kathy J. Pierce (Jim Lujack) of Thayer, Missouri; two sons, Michael Smith (Brenda) of Heart, Arkansas, and Timothy Martin (Michele) of Haughton, Louisiana; six grandchildren, Shelly McFann-Martin (John), Noble Leon McFann (Victoria), Josh Smith (Lena), Jake Smith (Stephanie), Timothy Lee Martin II (Veronica) and Katelyn Lee (Vance); thirteen great grandchildren; one sister, Ruby Hollis of Thayer, Missouri; a brother, Johnny Dowdy (Linda) of Koshkonong, Missouri; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Tressie Michaels; and a brother, Jesse Dowdy. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 18, 2015, 10:00 AM, in the Barker Funeral Home Chapel in Salem, Arkansas, with Shelly McFann-Martin officiating. Family will receive friends Wednesday, November 18, 2015, 9:00 AM until time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Moten Cemetery in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, with arrangements entrusted to Barker Funeral Home of Salem. Pallbearers are Leon McFann, Christopher Watkins, Josh Smith, Jake Smith, Derek Hall and Casey Hall.
