James Davis "J.D." Gleghorn was born in Day, Arkansas, March 16, 1929, son of Archie Vernile "A.V." and Delaphine (Johnson) Gleghorn. He departed this life Wednesday, September 30, 2015, at his home in Salem, Arkansas, at the age of 86 years, 6 months and 14 days.
J.D. was united in marriage to Bo Ann Adams on January 10, 1960, at Thayer, Missouri. He was a member of American Association of Meat Processors, Arkansas Meat Processors & Locker Association, NAEC, serving on board of directors and AR Electric Cooperatives. J.D. served as Mayor, a FCH Assistant Administrator, Salem Volunteer Fire Dept, Lions Club, Jaycees and American Legion member. He was involved in various civic activities involving school and summer sports programs. J.D. was owner/operator of Gleghorn's Custom Butchering and served his Country with the US Air Force during the Korean War. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
J.D. is survived by one daughter, Bolinda Gleghorn of West Plains, Missouri; a son, Mike Gleghorn of Jonesboro, Arkansas; one brother, Dean Gleghorn (Jeanie) of Mountain Home, Arkansas; a sister-in-law, Sybil Gleghorn of Salem, Arkansas; several nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; a brother, Harve; and two sisters, Armilda Bell and Helen Louise Gleghorn.
Funeral services will be held at Salem First Baptist Church in Salem, Arkansas, 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 3, 2015, with Bro. John Hodges officiating. Family will receive friends Friday, October 2, 2015, 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Salem First Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Humphries Cemetery in Day, Arkansas, with full military honors. Arrangements entrusted to Barker Funeral Home of Salem. Memorials preferrred to Salem First Baptist Church or Humphries Cemetery. Pallbearers are Gary Bell, Bill Bell, Reggie Gleghorn, Linn Gleghorn, James Gleghorn and Jeff Burch. Honorary pallbearers are the Board & Staff of Arkansas Electric Cooperatives and the Board & Staff of North Arkansas Electric Cooperative.
