Marshall Jackson Gross was born in Moorehouse, Missouri, on August 28, 1935, son of Clarence Henry and Clara Marie Pearl (Baker) Gross. He departed this life on May 29, 2015, in Salem, Arkansas, at the age of 79 years, 9 months and 1 day.
Marshall joined the U.S. Army and earned the rank of Sgt. First Class while serving one tour in Vietnam. He was an operator and instructor for U.S. Army power plants. Marshall later worked as the Assistant Manager at Town and Country and drove a school bus for Salem Schools. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Salem, Arkansas.
Marshall is survived by his wife, Peggy Lou Gross of Salem, Arkansas; a son, Christopher Gross (Christy) of Forrest City, Arkansas; one daughter, Yenneke Robinson (Stan) of Salem, Arkansas; twenty-four grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. Marshall was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Glenn Franklin Jackson and Raymond Devayne Greer; six brothers, Carl, Edward, Marion, Maxie Dale, Marvin and Isaac; and five sisters, Aloma Lee, Gretchen, Toby, Enretta and Carol.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, June 2, 2015, 2:00 PM at Barker Funeral Home Chapel in Salem, Arkansas, with Bro. Alan Winberry officiating. Arrangements entrusted to Barker Funeral Home of Salem. Memorials preferred to the Immanuel Baptist Church of Salem, Arkansas.
