Loyd Lavern “Bud” Willis was born in Henderson, Arkansas, on August 18, 1946, son of George Loyd and Hazel Elizabeth (Walker) Willis. He departed this life on May 15, 2015, at the age of 68 years, 8 months and 27 days.
Bud spent his working years as a carpenter and was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his longtime companion, Alene Mefford of Elizabeth, Arkansas; one son, Bob Johnson (Racquel) of Mt. Home, Arkansas; four daughters, Marie Amberger (Ken) of Salem, Arkansas, Wanda Herron (Bradley) of Salem, Arkansas, Talesa Peek (Randy) of West Plains, Missouri, and Connie Cunningham of Mt. Home, Arkansas; sister, Hazel Aleen Helton of Elizabeth, Arkansas; nine grandchildren, Kelsey Amberger, Ashton Ingram, Gage Herron, Andrea Johnson, Talesa Stroud, Randy Johnson, Travis Copas, Charlie Copas, and Cassie Patton; six great-grandchildren; two nephews, two nieces and many other relatives and friends. Loyd was preceded in death by his parents; a brother (Pete); one sister (Lavon); brother-in-law (Jack Helton) and a nephew (David).
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 19, 2015, 2:00 PM at Barker Funeral Home Chapel in Salem, Arkansas, with Bro. Van Brown officiating. Interment will be in Custer-Herron Cemetery in Henderson, Arkansas, with arrangements entrusted to Barker Funeral Home of Salem. Family will receive friends Tuesday, May 19 from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Pallbearers are Matt Taylor, Justin Taylor, Bob Johnson, Randy Johnson, Chris Mask and Jamie Hutson. Honorary Pallbearers are Harvey John Taylor, Bob Shrable, Bradley Herron and Lloyd Stone. Memorials preferred to the Humane Society or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
