Bernice Madelene Ledgerwood was born in Chehalis, Washington, November 24, 1925, daughter of Glenn Armstrong and Cleo Veril (Spencer) Perry. She departed this life Sunday, March 15, 2015, at her home in Viola, Arkansas, at the age of 89 years, 3 months and 19 days.
Bernice was united in marriage to Dow Raymond Ledgerwood in Chehalis, Washington, October 11, 1949. She was of the Baptist faith and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Bernice loved her role as a homemaker and was truly loved by all who knew her.
She is survived by three daughters, Verlene Ledgerwood and Jana Ford, both of Viola, Arkansas, and Alice Faye Osborne of Oregon; two sisters, Glenna Greene and husband, Jim, and Julene Pague and husband, Greg, all of CleElum, Washington; one brother, Warren Perry of CleElum, Washington; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dow; her parents, Glenn and Cleo Perry; two sons, Glenn and Terry Ledgerwood; one granddaughter, Contessa Raye; a sister, Dixie Vowels and two brothers, LaVern and Bryan Perry.
A memorial service will be held Friday, March 20, 2015, 3:00 PM at Viola First Baptist Church in Viola, Arkansas, with Bro. Larry Ring and Bro. Jimmie Polston officiating. Arrangements entrusted to Barker Funeral Home of Salem.
