Phyllis Jean Lybolt was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, July 11, 1925, daughter of Clarence Gove and Phyllis Mae (Holmes) Campbell. She departed this life Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at Fulton County Hospital in Salem, Arkansas, at the age of 89 years, 3 months and 11 days.
Phyllis was united in marriage to Stanley Charles Lybolt in Michigan, August 24, 1946, and to this union three children were born. She was employed at Eaton's Manufacturing during WWII while Stanley served in the South Pacific with the Army Air Force. Phyllis worked for Kellogg Cereal Company in Battle Creek, Michigan, where she was a member of the Rainbow Girls. Following an icy January in 1973, the family moved to Arkansas. Phyllis was a member of Salem Ladies VFW Post #9777, Fulton County Extension Club, Rose Garden Club, Hospital Auxiliary, Order of the Eastern Star, American Legion, Moose Lodge of Salem and Mountain Home, Arkansas. She was very active and held various offices through the years with each organization.
Phyllis is survived by daughter, Sherry Wessel of Battle Creek, Michigan; son, Calvin Lybolt of Salem, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Valerie Samples, Crystal (Firas) Jankhot, Ben Wessel, Barret Wessel and Sarah Wessel; four great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley; daughter, Kay Lybolt; her parents; and one sister, Dorothy Hackbarth.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 24, 2014, 11:00 AM at Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas, with Ladies Auxiliary Chaplain Brie`Anne Griffin officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Salem, Arkansas, with services entrusted to Barker Funeral Home of Salem. Family will receive friends Friday, October 24, from 9 AM till service time at the funeral home. Memorials preferred to VFW Post #9777 or Fairview Cemetery.
