Mack Nickels was born August 15, 1938, in Saddle, Arkansas, to Homer and Willie Ann (Newport) Nickels. He departed this life Saturday, October 4, 2014, at Fulton County Hospital in Salem, Arkansas at the age of 76 years, 1 month and 19 days.
Mack was united in marriage to Norma Lee Mooney on August 30, 1958, in Saddle, Arkansas. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for International Union of Operating Engineers for 52 years and was of the Baptist faith.
Mack is survived by his wife, Norma Nickels of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas; daughter, Linda Nickels and husband Stacy Simpson of Cherokee Village, Arkansas; grandson, Tony Porter and wife Amanda of Greenbrier, Arkansas; great granddaughter, Presley Porter of Greenbrier, Arkansas; nephew, Gary Nickels of Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Virgil Nickels and three sisters, Moline Longnecker, Ann Caso and Jean Merrell.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, October 7, 2014, at 10:00 AM at the Saddle Cemetery in Saddle, Arkansas, with Pastor Jackie Dockins officiating. Services entrusted to Barker Funeral Home of Salem. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society.
