Nellie Irene Bourgeois was born in Innis, Louisiana, on June 6, 1940, the daughter of Tommy and Bessie (Jackson) Kimble. She departed this life Wednesday, September 24, 2014, at her home in Salem, Arkansas, at the age of 74 years, 3 months and 18 days.
Nell was united in marriage to Travis Bourgeois on June 2, 1956, at Lettsworth, Louisiana. She worked in the Healthcare Industry as an LPN and was with Arkansas Children's Hospital for 18 years. Nell was a master gardener and avid plant lover, a craft enthusiast with a penchant for quilting and mosaics. She found serenity in nature, especially on her deck listening to her waterfall.
Nell is survived by one daughter, Karen Sue Bourgeois, of Salem, Arkansas; one sister, Viola Daigrepont of Salem, Arkansas; three brothers, Richard Kimble of Port Allen, Louisiana, Alvin Kimble of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Tommy Kimble of Converse, Louisiana; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Travis; two sons, Blane and Wayne Bourgeois; her parents; one sister, Bo Woods and one brother, Earl Kimble.
There will be an informal gathering on Saturday, October 4, 2014, from 2-4 PM at the Bourgeois home. Coffee and dessert will be served. Services entrusted to Barker Funeral Home of Salem, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to Fulton County Master Gardeners.
