Bessie Mae McDonald Divelbiss Eagleman

Bessie Mae McDonald Divelbiss Eagleman was born December 25, 1923, at Gamaliel, Arkansas, daughter of the late Jerome Miller and Gertha Mary (Cropper) McDonald. She entered into eternal rest Sunday, May 18, 2014, at White County Medical Center in Searcy, Arkansas, at the age of 90 years, 4 months and 23 days. Bessie was raised by her maternal grandparents Houston and Ada May (Ransom) Cropper. She was united in marriage on February 4, 1942, at Henderson, Arkansas, to Glen Divelbiss who preceded her in death March 5, 1989. On June 1, 2001, she was united in marriage to Roy T. Eagleman, who preceded her in death September 24, 2013. Bessie began her education at Fluty School and attended Viola High School. She was a member of Prairie Grove Church of Christ at Moody, Missouri. She was a homemaker, member of the Home Extension Club, and employed at International Shoe Factory in West Plains, Missouri, and Baxter Lab in Mt. Home, Arkansas. Bessie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and was known for her sewing and winning several awards for her exceptional handmade quilts. She is survived by one daughter Jarretta Sue Divelbiss Rose and husband Mack of Beebe, Arkansas; one son Joe Divelbiss and wife Linda of Caulfield, Missouri; five grandchildren, Cody Divelbiss of Caulfield, Missouri, Brian Rose and wife Toni of Scott, Arkansas; Lesley Smith and husband Ron of Searcy, Arkansas, Stan Rose of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Lori Shannon and husband John of Beebe, Arkansas; seven great grandchildren, Lindsey Rose, Ronnie Smith, Haley Smith, Julianna Rose, Kennedy Rose, Katie Shannon and Johnna Shannon; two nephews, Jerry Blackwell and wife Sandy of Washington, and Chuck Blackwell of Idaho; five stepchildren, Donald Eagleman of West Plains, Missouri, Arthur Eagleman of TomBall, Texas, Ida Mae Cawvey and husband Leon of Moody, Missouri, David Eagleman and wife Sharon of Garber, Oklahoma, and Rebecca Beasley and husband Dennis of West Plains, Missouri; eleven step grandchildren, Patrick Eagleman, Jennifer Seidel, Max Cates, Ed Cates, Dan Busenbarrick, Wendy Dixon, Thomas Eagleman, Monica Cawvey, Jeanie Casto, Larry Eagleman and Jackie Pemberton II; ten step great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Bessie was preceded in death by her parents; grand parents; husbands; infant son Donald Ray Divelbiss; one sister Bonnie Blackwell and one half sister Betty Byrd. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at 2:00 PM in Barker Funeral Home Chapel with Wayne Stewart officiating. Family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 PM until time of service. Interment will be in the Hurst Cememtery in Gepp, Arkansas, with services entrusted to Barker Funeral Home of Salem. Pallbearers are Cody Divelbiss, Ron Smith, Brian Rose, Ronnie Smith, Stan Rose and John Shannon. Memorials preferred to Paragould Children's Home.
