Veda “MawMaw” Thrasher was born in Salem, Arkansas, on January 18, 1927, daughter of Fredrick Hugh and Ruth Saloma (White) Lawyer. She departed this life on December 14, 2013, at her home in Salem, Arkansas, at the age of 86 years, 10 months and 26 days.
Veda was united in marriage to Clovis Watson Thrasher on December 19, 1946, at Wiseman, Arkansas. She was a homemaker and attended church at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Union, Arkansas.
Veda is survived by one son Jerry L. Thrasher of Salem, Arkansas; one brother Melvin Wayne Lawyer of North Powder, Oregon; one sister Melba J. Pitchford of Union, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren; one great-greatgrandchild and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, son, grandson, great-grandson, parents, brother and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held at Mt. Zion Baptist Church at Union, Arkansas, 3:00 PM on Tuesday, December 17, 2013, with Bro. Gary Wallace officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1:00-3:00 at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Wiseman Cemetery at Wiseman, Arkansas, with services under direction of Barker Funeral Home of Salem, Arkansas. Pallbearers are Michael L. Thrasher, Clovis M. Thrasher, Lee O. Lawyer, Les W. Lawyer, Ralph W. Lane and Angelo Brawley. Honorary Pallbearers are Dahl Lawyer, Johnny Marler, Jim O'Toole, Ken Welch and John Welch.
