Dow Raymond Ledgerwood was born in Birch Tree, Missouri, on June 30, 1926, son of Marcus Lee and Nova ParaLee (Smotherman) Ledgerwood. He departed this life on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at Southfork River Therapy and Living Center in Salem, Arkansas, at the age of 87 years, 5 months and 12 days.
Dow was united in marriage to Bernice Madeline Perry on October 11, 1949, at Chehalis, Washington. He served with the US Navy during WWII. Dow was a retired logger and worked for several years with the American Red Cross.
Dow is survived by his wife Bernice of the home in Viola, Arkansas; three daughters, Verlene Ledgerwood of Viola, Arkansas, Jana Ford and husband Danny of Viola, Arkansas, and Alice Faye Osborne of Yakima, Washington; many grandchildren; several great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; Marcus and Nova Ledgerwood; two sons, Terry and Glenn Ledgerwood; one granddaughter Contessa Raye Ledgerwood; six brothers, Clay, Bill, Henry, Lawrence, John and Millard Ledgerwood, and two sisters, Edith Laymore and Ruby Pierce.
Memorial services will be held at the Viola First Baptist Church in Viola, Arkansas, on Sunday, December 15, 2013, at 2:00 PM with Bro. Larry Ring officiating. Arrangements by Barker Funeral Home of Salem, Arkansas.
