Douglas Joe Ray was born in Manila, Arkansas, on December 5, 1964, the son of John Dudley and Rose Oleta (Russell) Ray. He departed this life on Friday, September 13, 2013, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Salem, Arkansas, at the age of 48 years, 9 months, and 8 days.
Doug was united in marriage to Melissa Jo Crouch on November 5, 1990, in West Plains, Missouri. He was a farmer and worked several other jobs during his lifetime. He was a loving husband, father and a member of the Salem Church of Christ. Family was first and foremost in his life.
Doug is survived by his wife, Melissa Jo Ray of Salem; three sons, Clint Ray of Ash Flat, Arkansas, Dustin Ray of Salem, Arkansas, and Lane Ray of Salem, Arkansas; his parents, John and Rose Ray of Salem, Arkansas; three sisters, Connie Delargy of Salem, Arkansas, Vickie Ray of Menard, Texas, and Beth Waltrip of Elizabeth, Arkansas; many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2013, 2:00 PM, at the Salem Church of Christ in Salem, Arkansas, with Bro. Mike Yates officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Salem under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem. Pallbearers are Clint Ray, Dustin Ray, Lane Ray, J.J. Gray, Scott Henslee, Wade Henslee, Chris Waltrip and David Foster. Honorary Pallbearers are Bennie Crouch and John Ray.
