Ellen Julia Kaye was born in Calumet, Michigan, on January 18, 1915, the daughter of Charles and Elvira (Kumpla) Niskanen. She departed this life on July 18, 2013, at Crown Point Health and Rehabilitation Center in Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, at the age of 98 years and 6 months.
Ellen was a member of the VFW, the Moose Lodge and the Horseshoe Bend Garden Club. After completing Cosmetology School she was self employed as a Beautician and was a member of the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas.
Ellen is survived by two sisters, Helen Kariott of Berwyn, Illinois, and Gertrude Andorf of Brookfield, Illinois; one brother, George Niskanen of Lake Island, Michigan, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Kaye, her parents, four brothers and eight sisters.
Burial will be in the Fairview Memorial Park Cemetery in North Lake, Illinois, at a later date. Local arrangements by Barker Horseshoe Bend Memorial Chapel of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas.
