Lee Roy Edward Mickle was born in Des Moines, Iowa on March 3, 1932, the son of Earl William and Mildred Alberta (Ridgeaway) Mickle. He departed this life on March 4, 2013, at Fulton County Hospital in Salem, Arkansas, at the age of 81 years and one day.
He was united in marriage to Lula (Lou) Bell Cunningham on October 29, 1997, at Cherokee Village, Arkansas. Lee Roy served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was employed as a welding inspector for Ford Motor Company Tractor Division.
He is survived by his wife Lou Mickle of Ash Flat, Arkansas; two sons Lawrence Mickle of Davison, Michigan and David Mickle, of Ash Flat, Arkansas; three stepsons Nelson Eli Armstead (Julia), Bobby Lelon Estes (Penny) and Robert Dale Estes all of Ash Flat, Arkansas; one daughter of Lapeer, Michigan; nine grandchilden James Mickle, Joshua Mickle, Jonathan Mickle, Sean Tario, Christopher Tario, Brandon Armstead, Jeremy Watkins, Kristy Garber and Crystal Watkins; one great grandson Carter James Mickle; several great grandchildren; two sisters Betty Mae Donahue of Des Moines, Iowa and Mary L James of Des Moines, Iowa; one brother William J Mickle of Des Moines, Iowa; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded by one daughter Kittie Mickle; parents; two brothers Richard and John Mickle; first wife Barbara Mickle and one granddaughter Talena Armstead.
Funeral services will be held at Barker Funeral Home Chapel, Salem, Arkansas, at 10:00 AM on Thursday, March 7, 2013, with Rev. Stanley Jones officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 6, 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Services under direction of Barker Funeral Home of Salem, Arkansas.
Graveside Services will be held Monday, March 11, 2013, at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Des Moines, Iowa.
