Carrol Aaron Newman

Carrol Aaron Newman son of the late Slayton Newman and Delma Daisy (Blackwell) Newman was born May 5, 1928 in Hawarden, Iowa. He died October 16, 2012 at Fulton County Hospital in Salem, Arkansas at the age of 84 years, 5 months, and 11 days. He was united in marriage to Edith Faith Wakeman on February 14, 1949, in Union Creek Church in Union County, South Dakota. He worked alongside his wife on the family farm. He was of the Baptist faith and attended the Elizabeth Baptist Church. Survivors include his five sons, Steve Newman of Normal, Illinois, Warren Newman and wife Cherryle, Mike Newman and wife Dana, Slayton Newman and wife Nancy, James Newman and wife Rita all of Byron, Arkansas, twenty-two grandchildren, Jennifer Newman, Sabrina Floyd (Cecil), Kasey Newman (Courtney), Madeline Newman, Katherine "Katie" Newman, Annie Grace Newman, Emmalie Newman, John Newman, Tessa Newman, Sophie Newman, Ella Newman, Samuel Newman, Jason Downs (Holly), Cody Scrivener (Marie), Crystal Galvan, Tiger Hurtt, Dustin Newman (Trish), David Newman (Delaney), Faith Ellrich (Justin), Brandon Newman (Sarah), Tracy Newman; 15 great-grandchildren, four sisters Agnos Nilson, June Vandenburg, Marion Vanderham and husband Bill, Donna Vermeer, and fiancé Betty Stuart. He was preceded in death by his wife Edith Faith Newman, two daughters Mary Margaret and Margaret Mary who died in infancy, a grandchild Matthew, his father Slayton Newman and mother Delma Daisy (Blackwell) Newman. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 20, 2012, 2:00 PM, at Elizabeth Baptist Church in Elizabeth, Arkansas with Bro. John Hodges officiating. Interment will be in the Byron Cemetery in Byron, Arkansas under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem. Visitation will be Friday, October 19, 2012, 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Dustin Newman, David Newman, Brandon Newman, Tracy Newman, Kasey Newman and Cody Scrivener. Honorary pallbearers will be Justin Ellrich, Eugene Newman, Tom Newman, Fred Newman, Bob Newman, Billy Newman, Lonnie Neal, Wayne Neal, Daniel Neal, Kent Cornelius, Furman Gregg, Jim Bozeman, Carmen Sanders and Buck Crotts.
