Grover Corbie Borden, 92, of Elizabeth, Arkansas, was born on September 11, 1919, in Elizabeth, Arkansas, son of Jim B. and Martha Elizabeth (Nimo) Borden. He departed this life on July 6, 2012, at his home in Elizabeth, Arkansas.
Grover was united in marriage to Lilly Bernestine Snelgroes on August 10, 1938, at Flora, Arkansas. He spent his working years as a farmer. Grover served his country in the United States Army during WWII and he was of the Baptist faith.
He leaves to mourn his passing: wife, Bernestine Borden of Elizabeth, Arkansas; three daughters, Billie Joyce Martin of Bexar, Arkansas, Sharon Mae Guffey and husband J. W. of Viola, Arkansas, and Linda Hunt of Bexar, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Trina Smith, Lisa Shrable, Tresa Lester, Bryan Guffey, Lee Ann Blevins, Justin Hunt and Tony Hunt; eight great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and six sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 8, 2012, 2:00 PM, at Barker Funeral Home Chapel in Salem, Arkansas, with Bro. John Hodges officiating. Interment will be in the Elizabeth Cemetery at Elizabeth, Arkansas, under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be Bryan Guffey, Justin Hunt, Tony Hunt, Nathan Smith, Ted Blevins and Ray Shrable. Visitation will be Saturday, July 7, 2012, 6-8 PM, at the funeral home.
