Clyde Thomas Carter, Jr., 85, of Salem, Arkansas, was born on June 9, 1926, in Ventura, California, son of Clyde Thomas and Gladys (Spencer) Carter. He departed this life on June 1, 2012, at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Arkansas.
Clyde was united in marriage to Lucille Elizabeth Silveria on November 23, 1959, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He spent his working years as an accountant for Shell Oil. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II, was a member of the Elks Club in Ventura, California, and was of the Baptist faith.
He leaves to mourn his passing: wife, Lucille Carter of Salem, Arkansas; one son, Leslie L. Valine, Jr. and wife Hannalore of Trier, Germany; four daughters, Diane Carr and husband Jack of Ventura, California, Cathy Busby and husband Otis of Salem, Arkansas, Nancy Harlow and husband Jonathan of Salem, Arkansas and Dorothy Gram and husband Jim of Pasa Robles, California; 14 grandchildren; many great and great-great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son (Dean Carter), brother (Winston Carter), sister (Connie Blinzer), and granddaughter (Michelle Schultz).
A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 4, 2012, 2:00 PM, at Camp Cemetery in Camp, Arkansas, with Bro. John Hodges officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, June 3, 2012, 6-8 PM at Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be Rusty Busby, Jim Busby, Jeff Thompson, Jon Harlow and Mike Harlow. Memorials may be made to the Salem First Baptist Church.
