Clara Estell Bowie Criger Lage was born on August 19, 1928, in Honey Grove, Texas, daughter of Clarence Nathan and Mattie Estell (Hulse) Bowie. She departed this life on May 7, 2012, at Fulton County Hospital in Salem, Arkansas, at the age of 83 years, 8 months and 18 days.
Clara was united in marriage to Glendale Edmund Lage in April 1953. She spent her working as a chef. Clara was of the Protestant faith and she was a member of Eastern Star.
She leaves to mourn her passing: five daughters, Linda Criger Stephens of Pensacola, Florida, Joy Criger Smith of Parker, Colorado, Cheryl McDoulett of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma,Pamela Raines of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, and Tina Spencer of Georgetown, Texas; three sister-in-laws, Blanche Warden and husband Kenneth of Morriston, Arkansas, Wanda Bowie of Honey Grove, Texas, and Dolly Bowie of Bonham, Texas; fifteen grandchildren, James, Valerie, Angela, Elayna, Gabriel, Katie, Ashley, Wendy, Kimberly, Darrell, Derek, Mary, Tony, Sidney and Jackson; sixteen great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, son, Michael Lage, parents, three grandchildren, Timothy McDoulett, Emily Lage and Melissa Miller Sodeman, three brothers, Eiland Hunter Bowie, Joe Robert Bowie and John Burke Bowie, and one sister Neoma Bowie Parham.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 11, 2012, 2:00 PM, at Horseshoe Bend United Methodist Church in Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, with Rev. Nancy Cameron officiating. Interment was in the Reeves Cemetery at Guion, Arkansas, under the direction of Horseshoe Bend Memorial Chapel in Horseshoe Bend. Pallbearers were Kenneth Warden, Bryon Hill, George Hill, John Lage, Tony Raines and Mary Gabaldon. Honorary pallbearers were Darrel Jacobs and Derek Jacobs.
