Lorene Henry, 89, of Salem, Arkansas, was born on July 28, 1922, in Elizabeth, Arkansas, daughter of Silas Anderson and Mary Florance “Doll” (Rand) Marchant. She departed this life on February 22, 2012, at Fulton County Hospital in Salem, Arkansas.
Lorene was united in marriage to Curtis Paul Henry on July 2, 1942, in Salem, Arkansas, and to this union, a daughter was born. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Lorene worked as a cook for the Fulton County Hospital and she was a member of the Salem First Baptist Church.
She leaves to mourn her passing: daughter, Joyce Ward and husband Donald of Salem; two grandsons, Lanny Ward and wife Janet of Salem, and Kyle Ward of Salem; seven great-grandchildren, Andrew, Kayla, Haley, Whitney and Hanna Ward and Brooke and Bailey York. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and sister, Truda Elliott.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2012, 2:00 PM, at Barker Funeral Home Chapel in Salem, Arkansas, with Bro. John Hodges officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Calm Cemetery at Viola, Arkansas, under the direction of Barker Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Andrew Ward, Zach Branscum, Lanny Ward, Kyle Ward, Kayla Ward, Haley Ward, Whitney Ward, Hanna Ward, Brooke York and Bailey York. Honorary pallbearers will be Evelyn Willett, Diana Brown, Mary Jo Baker, Miyoko Smith and Virginia Cunningham. Visitation will be Friday February 24, 6-8 PM, at the funeral home.
Memorials preferred to Mt. Calm Cemetery Association or the Salem First Baptist Church.
