James Lemar Sanders, 84, of Viola, Arkansas, was born on February 18, 1927, in Byron, Arkansas, son of Troy Horace and Buna V. (Cochran) Sanders. He departed this life on February 10, 2012, at Good Samaritan Society in Mountain Home, Arkansas.
Lemar was united in marriage to Juanita Painter on August 11, 1949, at Pineville, Arkansas, and to this union, three children were born. He later married Mable Mae Broyles on December 2, 1987, at Viola, Arkansas. He spent his working years as a dairy farmer and in construction. He helped build several houses for Habitat for Humanity in the West Plains area. Lemar was a member of the Viola Baptist Church and served his country in the United States Army during WWII.
He leaves to mourn his passing: one son, Donald W. Sanders and wife Patti of Viola, Arkansas; two daughters, Ella Mae Watson and husband Terry of Mountain Home, Arkansas, and Sondra Kay Sanders of Viola, Arkansas; two step-sons, Don Lear and wife Jane of Atlanta, Georgia, and Tom Lear of Coffman, Texas; five grandchildren, Eric Watson, Aaron Watson, Kirk Watson, Mashale Lawrence and Mysti Burton; nine great-grandchildren, Brennan Watson, Dalton Watson, Alexis Watson, Shawn Watson, Cameron Watson, Remington Lawrence, Gunner Lawrence and Joey Burton; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wives, Juanita and Mable, parents and one daughter Phylis Ann Sanders.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 14, 2012, 2:00 PM, at Viola Baptist Church in Viola, Arkansas, with Bro. John Hodges and Bro. Larry Ring officiating. Interment will be in the Byron Cemetery at Byron, Arkansas, under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Salem, Arkansas. Pallbearers will be Eric Watson, Aaron Watson, Kirk Watson, Brennan Watson, Porter Howell and Elwin Wray. Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Oliver, Danny Perryman, Dennis Perryman, Charles Sherman, John Good, Dale Talburt and Herman Wilson. Visitation will be Monday, February 13, 6-8 PM, at the funeral home.
