Eckley Gaylor Gossett Schatzman Sr., 88, of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, was born on June 17, 1923, in Cleveland, Ohio, son of Paul Francis and Vera Gossett (Johnson) Schatzman. He departed this life on December 19, 2011, at his home in Horseshoe Bend.
Eckley was united in marriage to JoAnn Taggart on August 21, 1948, at Mishawaka, Indiana. He worked as a regional sales manager for Landis Tool Company. Eckley served his country in the United States Army Air Force during World War II and received many decorations and citations, the Distinguished Flying Cross-AAF, Air Medal with 3 Clusters-AAF, two distinguished Unit Citations-AAF, and French Legion of Merit from the French Government. He flew a total of 55 missions during the conflict. He was of the Methodist faith.
He leaves to mourn his passing: wife, JoAnn Taggart Schatzman of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas; five sons, Eckley G.G. Schatzman, Jr. of Batavia, Illinois, Gregg Paul Schatzman of Henderson, Nevada, Randall Craig Schatzman of Redmond, Washington, and Gaylon Page Schatzman of Centerville, Utah, and Drew Meredith Schatzman of Henderson, Nevada; two sisters, Paula Francine Holmes of Tucson, Arizona, and Fayme Pearson of Dublin, Ohio; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
