Leola Martine Rains

Leola Martine Rains, 92, of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, was born on June 9, 1919, in Clifton, Kansas, daughter of Frank and Zelpha Newell. She departed this life on November 16, 2011, at Crown Point Health and Rehab Center in Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas. Leola was united in marriage to Dean Wilbur Rains on September 22, 1936, in Clay Center, Kansas. She was a homemaker and a Librarian for many years. She also owned a fitness gym, worked for a florist and for the MRID in Horseshoe Bend. Leola was a member of the Horseshoe Bend United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women’s Mary Circle and Beta Sigma Phi. Her favorite hobbies were gardening and crafts. She leaves to mourn her passing: two daughters, Cindy Biles and husband Craig of Wallace, California, and Candy Delargy and husband Gary of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas; two grandsons, Jeff Rains and wife Krissy of Melbourne, Arkansas, and Travis Rains and wife Kendra of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas; six great-grandchildren, Damian Rains, Shaylynn Rains, Brady Rains, Dean Rains, Alexis Rains and Park Rains; dear friend, Blanche Warden of Morriston, Arkansas; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, son Newell J. Rains, parents, two brothers and two sisters. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 18, 2011, 2:00 PM, at Horseshoe Bend United Methodist Church in Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, with Rev. Nancy Cameron officiating under the direction of Barker Horseshoe Bend Memorial Chapel. Memorials preferred to the Horseshoe Bend United Methodist Church.
